How much do you love your job? Simply making money is probably not enough to give you a sense of contentment. When I picture my dream job, I see myself making a difference in our world rather than bringing home ludicrous amounts of money. I want to be as proud of my job in the future as I am of my high school career now, and I believe that studying psychology will prepare me for a fulfilling future. My dream job will make me happy because I know that I will be working hard to help someone every day.
The Conference Board released a survey in February which stated that job satisfaction has declined in the last nine years. Seventeen percent of people making less than $15,000 a year say they are very satisfied with their jobs, whereas only fourteen percent of those who make over $50,000 were satisfied. Although the incomes of professional athletes have soared, the prestige of their jobs has fallen. I am going to get satisfaction from the goals that I accomplish in my career, not from my paycheck.
